Limestone (rough)

Limestone (rough)

Application

Rough limestone is particularly suited for substructures, drainages and for slope stabilisation. The stone's bright colour creates a good visual effect as a decorative element in dry stone walls and wire-basket retaining walls or gabions. Armourstone of hard limestone is characterised by extraordinarily low water absorption resulting in excellent frost resistance. Other areas of application include the sugar and soda industries as well as the iron industry.

Quarrying

Drilling and blasting the native Devonian hard limestone produces a pile of rough rock which is crushed and sized for various uses. The chemical purity of the hard limestone to be quarried is revealed by a stone dust analysis carried out beforehand by FELS quality assurance experts.
